https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRqMPILjPis I had a random recommendation of this channel a year ago or two when he still had like 1k subs and was traveling the high seas in a smaller boat and was still a teenager. Now he has 300k subs and upgraded to a very comfy, bigger sailboat. I always wonder how he was able to afford his first boat at just 18/19yo. Now he's 21 and bought a new boat for 50k$. Is it just rich parents or does having a few patreon subs and youtube views really pay that much money? Either way, he makes comfy sailing videos even though I'm a little jelly of the freedom having so much money buys.
You can always get a rough estimate on socialblade. Spoiler: you don't get rich with just YT
They also just lie about stuff.
Where do you think he has tax residence in order to maximize his social media earnings?
$50k isn't much.
>>28456 It's a lot for a 21 year old. At minimum you'd have to be earning median wage and saving 100% of it for all the time you've been working.
>>28458 Meidan wage is about 50K so that's one year of saving. I saved up 50K during covid and I am unemployed Though it is 50k Australian yen...
>>28456 $50k don't buy you a seaworthy blue water yacht with modern tech either, especially not 40ft. 40ft is fine but if you go much bigger it quickly becomes unpractical, e.g. handling it without additional crew or getting it craned. This is not a small boat. Boats for sale are often projects in need for heavy renovation, so don't be fooled by some price. While $50k suggests a good base you are likely looking at another $50k at the very least. I got to look at everything later. t. boat man
>>28460 You shouldn't be looking at boats when you live in a landlocked country you silly sausage.
>>28462 >HAHA, le funny countryball meme, I really got him This isn't Kohlchan, you imbecile. I am German.
>>28463 Even if you were Austrian. I know they use boats too. I have seen it on the tv myself. They have lakes with boats on them there!
>>28463 Then why do you have an Austrian flag?
There's a tiktok guy you'd like OP. sailing_with_phoenix He saved up like $40k working a regular job, bought a boat, fixed it up, then sailed the pacific by himself. had no prior experience. documented it all. just him and his cat.
>>28465 Impossible. >>28487 even in times prior to the internet and GPS you didnt need much experience to sail around the world catching tradewinds. i liked this book and get incredibly butthurt thinking about how much worse things generally got in just 50 years. he paid £500 iirc.
>>28540 He lived the life
Black Lagoon really has me dreaming to one day live from an old patrol boat, cruising around in the bay of Thailand. But every boat owner I talked to said two things. Their second best moment in life was buying a boat, the best moment in life was selling it again.
>>28630 He became a minor celeb at the time, got lots of free shit and met prince Philip in Australia. He needed 8 years to sail around the world, after that everything deteriorated and he ultimately died of cancer.
>>28644 + he had Swiss GF on his tiny boat
>>28645 She probably annoyed him a lot causing him to chain smoke, thus causing the cancer. He should've brought a kot like my tiktok dude
